![]() Jared Spataro, corporate vice president of Microsoft 365, told CNBC this week that users are only counted when they perform an action such as making a call through Teams or starting a chat in the app. Slack’s critique and the internet reaction to Microsoft’s latest Teams figures appeared to strike enough of a chord that the tech giant felt compelled to respond. Last month, Slack said it had more than 12 million daily users, a 37 percent increase over the prior year. That’s a substantial increase from 8 million daily active users reported last year, and 4 million in 2016. Slack, one of the leading collaboration tools available on the market today, recently announced that it had surpassed the milestone of 10 million active users per day ( DAU ). As Slack looks to woo larger and larger companies with the prospect of a simpler workplace collaboration tool, the company said it has now hit 8 million daily active users. The number of paid users is over 3 million, and over 40. Among our paid customers, users spend more than 9 hours per workday connected to our service, including spending about 90 minutes per workday actively using Slack.” Slack boasts impressive daily user count. Slacks active daily users number more than 10 million, and they spend up to 9 hours when they sign in. In January 2019, the company had 10 million daily active users and 88,000 companies paying for its services. Microsoft said in July that its competing Teams app had.
